I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the “Winter is Lobster” special at Manta Restaurant in Woolloomooloo, and I must say, it was an extraordinary culinary journey that left an indelible mark on my taste buds. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque waterfront, Manta Restaurant not only boasts a breathtaking view but also offers an exceptional dining experience that will surely satisfy even the most discerning palates.

The star of the show was the sustainable East Coast Lobster direct from the Port Stephens Fisherman’s Seafood Co-op. The Winter is Lobster special featured a tantalizing two-course lobster meal that showcased the lobster’s versatility and flavour in the most captivating way.

The service was impeccable from start to finish, and special commendation goes to the waitress who made the experience truly unforgettable. She expertly guided me through the wine selection, ensuring the perfect pairing with the lobster dishes. Her attention to detail was evident when she introduced a live lobster, making the dining experience even more engaging and immersive.

The culinary journey began with a glass of Veuve Clicquot, setting the tone for the lavish experience that awaited. The first course was a delightful 1/2 lobster pasta mafalda, beautifully presented with dashi, ginger, and tomato. The flavours were an intricate dance on the palate, each ingredient harmonizing to create a symphony of taste.

The second course, a 1/2 grilled lobster accompanied by Manta truffle fries, was a true indulgence. The lobster was cooked to perfection, showcasing its natural sweetness and tenderness.

Let’s not forget the grand finale – the Raspberry Soufflé. Paired with raspberry consommé and white chocolate ice cream, this dessert was a sublime ending to an exquisite meal. The soufflé was airy and delicate, while the raspberry consommé provided a burst of fruity freshness that balanced the sweetness of the dessert.

Looking ahead to September, Manta Restaurant continues to entice with its Spring is Lobster menu. The offerings include the Whole Grilled Eastern Rock Lobster with a choice of sauce or a Lobster Pasta featuring Mafalda pasta, ginger, chilli, and dashi. The Spring Sharing Menu also promises a delectable array of dishes that showcase the finest seasonal ingredients.

Manta Restaurant at Woolloomooloo is a haven for seafood enthusiasts and fine dining connoisseurs alike. With its stunning waterfront location, impeccable service, and inventive culinary creations, it truly offers an unforgettable experience. If you’re seeking a taste of luxury and a journey through exquisite flavours, Manta Restaurant should be at the top of your list. I look forward to returning for another great dining experience.
