To celebrate the countdown to the snow season, Perisher is bringing winter wonderland fun to Sydney today with a special bus-stop takeover in honour of its high-speed, six-seater Mt Perisher 6 chairlift, new for 2025 and offering guests.
“We’re so proud of our dedicated team at Perisher, alongside experts at Doppelmayr Australia, who have been working hard all summer in high altitude conditions to make sure the exciting new addition to the slopes, the Mt Perisher 6 chairlift, is ready for our guests this season,” says Nathan Butterworth, Vice President and General Manager of Perisher Ski Resort.
“This upgrade means less time waiting on the chair and more time exploring your favourite terrain from Australia’s highest lifted point, with quicker access to Mt Perisher’s iconic runs,” said Butterworth.
Perisher is the largest alpine resort in the southern hemisphere. Nestled in Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales, Perisher is home to four interconnected resort areas, 44 lifts, over 100 trails and more than 3,000 acres of terrain waiting to be explored by ski or snowboard.
The highly anticipated Mt Perisher 6 chairlift is one of the largest investments in the resort’s history and is a major milestone in the resort’s ongoing commitment to the guest experience. Replacing the Mt Perisher Double and Triple chairs, with $312,000 raised for local community groups and initiatives during the Double Chair auction, the Mt Perisher 6 will significantly boost capacity, efficiency, and comfort, cutting travel time up the mountain from 10 minutes to just 5.5 minutes.
Engineered to meet the high demand of Mt. Perisher’s sought-after slopes, the new detachable chairlift travels faster than a conventional fixed-grip chairlift, getting you to the top of the mountain quicker, with the added advantage of easier loading and unloading, enhancing flow and reducing wait times, meaning less wait and more laps. It’s also designed to help redistribute skiers and snowboarders across Perisher’s 44 lifts and four resort areas, improving the overall circulation of guests and easing congestion across the network.
By reducing the number of lift towers from 27 to just 10, guests will also enjoy a more expansive skiable area, wider runs, and breathtaking panoramic views. The new lift unload station offers an unbeatable vantage point across the resort, including Guthega’s Freedom Quad, Blue Cow’s Ridge Quad, Smiggin Holes, and even down the Valley to Jindabyne on a clear day.
