When it comes to creating unforgettable memories with friends, few experiences can rival the joy of sharing a splendid meal together. Recently, I embarked on such an adventure with three close friends at The Oriana Orange, a charming hotel that promised an evening of delectable delights and exceptional flavours.

The Bela Vista Bar: Sip, Savor, and Begin

Our food coma journey commenced with a pre-dinner rendezvous at The Bela Vista Bar, a cozy and elegant space within The Oriana Orange. As we settled into the plush lounge chairs, we perused the cocktail menu, each drink more enticing than the last. Our choices included a classic Cosmopolitan, a bold and flavourful Boulevardier Negroni, the effervescent Kir Royal, and a Rhubarb Ginger Spritz mocktail that delighted with its refreshing and tangy notes.

Sipping our cocktails, we couldn’t help but get excited about what was awaiting for us at The Peacock Room, The Oriana Orange’s renowned dining establishment.

The Peacock Room: A feast where we indulged

Once we were ready to explore the culinary menu of The Peacock Room, we eagerly took our seats and were promptly greeted with warmth and professionalism by the attentive staff.

To begin, we shared a plate of Batemans Bay Oysters. Each briny, ocean-kissed morsel was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to using only the freshest and finest ingredients.

For the main course, we embarked on a delightful exploration of the menu. What I ate. The Crab Raviolo was a revelation, a delicate pasta pillow filled with succulent crab meat, enveloped in a sumptuous lobster bisque sauce that sang from the under the sea. Saffron-pickled fennel added a touch of brightness to this exquisite dish. For the main, the Venison Back Strap was a masterpiece. Cooked to perfection, the tender meat was accompanied by a generous portion of Paris mash, Brussels sprouts, chanterelles, cranberries, and a rich game sauce that married the flavours nicely.

My friends enjoyed the comforting French Onion Soup and the classic elegance of Steak Tartare. For their mains: their choices included the Confit Wagyu Beef Neck, a melt-in-your-mouth delight, and the Bangalow Pork Loin Chop, a hearty and satisfying dish that showcased the chef’s skill in preparing meats.

With each bite, we couldn’t help but appreciate the meticulous craftsmanship that went into every dish. The Peacock Room truly lived up to its reputation as a culinary gem.

However, it’s important to mention that the first half of our dining experience wasn’t exactly what we had anticipated. The evening started off with a cacophony of loud noises—tables being banged, bursts of excitement and disappointment from fellow diners watching a sports game where the Australians were playing, and they were celebrating a birthday with constant jubilant howling.

The atmosphere was far from the serene and tranquil setting we had hoped for, and it seemed that we weren’t the only ones disappointed with the disruptive ambience. We, along with other diners, had been craving a quiet night to and enjoy each other’s company. Nevertheless, we remained hopeful and in the second half of our dining experience (halfway through our mains), the turn of the tide and continued to have a lovely experience.

With satisfied appetites and smiles all around, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The house couldn’t resist sharing their Petit Patisseries platter, which featured an array of sweet temptations. The classic crème ‘patissier’ eclair, the raspberry chocolate macaron, the caramelized rum canele, and the round of muscat wine offered a sweet and satisfying end.

From the pre-dinner cocktails at The Bela Vista Bar to the delectable dishes at The Peacock Room, we enjoyed every moment of the restaurant’s experience, to all the waitstaff and chefs in the back to provide an unparalleled dining experience that made us feel wholesome and welcomed.

If you’re seeking a restaurant that offers a perfect blend of exquisite flavours, impeccable service, and a cozy ambience, This should undoubtedly be at the top of your list. It’s a place where food is wholesome, and every bite is a delight.
