TEDxSydney, the city’s premier event for sharing ideas and sparking conversations, proudly unveils its line-up of on-site activations in addition to its curated speaker and performer line-up for this year’s event. Scheduled for 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday, 1 September, attendees can anticipate a day filled with enlightenment, not just from the main stage but also from the array of engaging activities during the breaks.
Highlights of the 2023 activations include:
Meet The Speakers: Guests will have the opportunity to ask their burning questions, or pick the brains of some of the incredible TEDxSydney speakers. Hot off the TEDxSydney stage, speakers will head to the Meet The Speakers lounge and be available to meet the audience. An incredible opportunity to meet leaders in their fields, and spark interesting conversations.
The University of Sydney 3D Artwork: Visit the University of Sydney’s artistic representation of their research to discover how they’re finding solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges. Researchers from the University of Sydney turn bold ideas into real-life solutions. Joining forces with artist Toby Pike, they'll showcase 4 innovations exploring health and sustainability as 3D sculptures at our main event. Have a coffee with the researchers from 8 to 9am to learn more about their work.
Mini-Pollinator Forest: Attendees can participate in planting the first section of a proposed pollinator corridor linking Centennial and Sydney Park. The micro-forest will plant native species, creating pollinator habitat and creating space for urban wildness. The project is founded on the strength of small community-led events to address the biodiversity and climate crisis in a way that is regenerative for people and the landscape. Supported with funding from Planet Ark’s Seedling Bank, The Sydney Pollinator Lab is supported by the Alastair Swayn Foundation and The Awesome Foundation Sydney.
Documentary Australia Film Festival: In collaboration with Documentary Australia and Intrepid Travel, attendees have a chance to win exclusive prizes and will gain access to a specially curated Online Film Festival running from 1-11 September and featuring six environmental documentaries, including Emmy-nominated Delikado, Carbon: The Unauthorised Biography and Undermined: Tales of the Kimberley.
Music Health: Revel in the therapeutic power of music, with selections personalised via the innovative Music Health AI. Attendees can experience Vera, an application offering personalised music choices for dementia patients.
Goodrigabee Gin Tasting: With its heart in the Snowies and its soul by the sea, Aussie craft distillery Goodradigbee tells the story of Australia through its gins. Dive into a sensory experience by trying some of these distinct flavours.
Conversations With (New) Friends: Facilitated by the 100 Coffee Movement, attendees can pick-up a card and start a conversation with someone new. Meet fellow attendees in the networking space, and spark up a meaningful conversation around love, life, culture and work. Led by the 100 Coffees Movement, designed to get to know your fellow attendees through conversations inspired by philosophy to literature, psychology to the visual arts.
Little Marionette Coffee: Coffee aficionados will appreciate the craft of roasting from The Little Marionette Coffee team, who will be showcasing their full-bodied rich Sanchez Blend. The blend boasts notes of dark chocolate and black cherry, leaving a delicious all-round aftertaste.
Little Moons Mochi Ice Cream: Experience the new way of eating ice cream with Europe’s leading mochi ice cream brand, Little Moons. Offering guests delicious bite-sized balls of perfection, they’re unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before, but then again, they’re ice cream from another world.
Byron Bay Cookies: Delight in the artisanal flavours of Byron Bay Cookies, baked to perfection for that exquisite moment of indulgence.
Berkelouw Book Store: Dive into curated titles aligned with our theme, “Tipping Point”. Featuring works from our event speakers and hand-picked books on transformative moments and pivotal changes. Buy a book, and get our speakers to sign your copy. Berkelouw provides a deeper insight into the day’s discussions.
For those attending TEDxSydney 2023, these activities are set to be an integral part of the experience, taking place throughout the day during event breaks.
