HMD Skyline

The HMD Skyline is focused on capturing every memory while still being present in the moment, the Skyline is a power-packed and visually stunning mid-tier flagship delivering fantastic camera capabilities, next generation repairability and its own Digital Detox mode*.

Just like the HMD Skyline, ‘Skyline Spring’ is all about being unafraid to break conventional rules or expectations, all for an affordable and accessible price. The HMD Skyline is every content queen’s dream and getting the perfect shot doesn’t have to be risky when you can also easily repair your smartphone yourself.

The 50MP selfie camera comes with autofocus and eye-tracking to ensure the sharpest of selfies, and with HMD Skyline, creators don’t even need to press a button or set a timer to take a picture. The device comes with in-built ‘selfie gesture’ tech, which means all users have to do is to look at the phone while making the universal peace sign (or one of three other hand signs) to activate the camera.

The 108MP Hybrid OIS triple rear camera is equally impressive. Portrait mode allows for stunning 50mm shots in bokeh effect and crisp close-ups can be achieved with the x4 zoom function. Stunning scenery and group shots can be captured using the 0.5 ultra-wide mode and there’s AI Capture Fusion too to add maximum detail to zoom images.

HMD Skyline also takes mobile phone repairability to the next level, Gen2 to be specific, cementing the notion that F.I.Y is Fly. Shattered screen? No problem. With HMD Skyline you can pop it off and replace it in seconds using miniature tools from cute-as-a-button iFixit kits. But it doesn’t stop there. Bent charging ports, scratched back covers and tired batteries can also all be fixed in double quick time too.1

And the good news just keeps on coming. The super-slick smartphone for the ages comes with a digital Detox Mode – a soon-to-be added addition and powerful new bespoke app allowing users to tailor their detox to their needs, focus on the real world and enjoy a balanced smartphone experience. Everyone needs a break from time to time.

HMD Skyline also includes an up to 48-hour battery2 and Qi2 magnetic charging for slick wireless charging stations. Coming in three stand-out colourways, Neon Pink, Topaz Blue and Twisted Black, HMD Skyline is primed, ready and loaded with every possible camera tool you’d ever want.

Brenden Folitarik, HMD GM of Australia and Oceania, said; “The HMD Skyline empowers the humans behind the phone, with an impressive triple camera to capture memories, a unique digital detox mode to encourage people to live in the moment and fix-it-yourself repairability that has never been easier. It’s all about creating a fashionable way to have a healthy relationship with your smartphone.”

Lars Silberbauer, Global CMO of Human Mobile Devices said; “At Human Mobile Devices we start by really thinking about and working out what consumers need. This phone is going to be a game-changer. Gen Z’s want beautiful phones that take beautiful pictures. We’re giving them that. They want to take a detox every once in a while and step away from the incessant digital flow. We’re giving them that. HMD Skyline delivers everything they want and need and it looks absolutely beautiful.”

Celebrity photographer Rosanna Electtra took the HMD Skyline for a test drive, she commented: “I’ve had the joy of capturing acclaimed artists like Rihanna, Central Cee, Aitch and Cara Delevingne. The HMD Skyline is Gen Z’s dream device so I wanted to show the phone in it’s natural habitat, in scenes dripping with Gen Z culture. I’m used to shooting celebrities, but I loved turning the camera on Human Mobile Device’s latest launch and taking its super impressive camera for a test drive. The shots – all taken on the phone – are super cool, stylish and have main character energy – just like Skyline.”

A bona fide HMD Skyline acolyte, Rosanna offers her top tips and tricks for shooting stills on the new device:

  1. Use HMD Skyline’s Capture Fusion function to make your pics look like they were taken by a pro. This super cool feature merges frames from the ultrawide and telephoto cameras with the main camera, giving you more detail in your pics. It’s perfect for those wide shots where you want everything to be super clear and detailed
  2. Designated photographer for the night? Night Mode’s got your back. It automatically kicks in when it’s dark, but you can also turn it on manually for longer exposures. Plus, Optical Image Stabilisation helps keep your shots steady and clear, even when you’re snapping mid-party
  3. Make your subjects the main character with 50mm Portrait Mode. It creates a beautiful blurred background effect, similar to a DSLR camera, and is perfect for close-up portraits, making your subject the star of the show

The HMD Skyline is available from 28 August at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks (online only), Amazon (online only) and Big W (online only), from AUD $899.
