Intoxicating club-force 2charm return with their propulsive new track “making out”, out now. Their next release since their neon-lit debut album star scum city dropped earlier this year.
Born from a dream before it was ever written down, “making out” is 2charm at their most lovestruck, and no slower for it. Built with Ninajirachi from a chopped-up sample of their debut single “boyfriend”, the track pulses with 3am rapture – hyperpop synths, a drop that lands like a held breath letting go and vocals close enough to read as confession. Recorded in a single afternoon at 2charm’s home studio with lyrics pulled straight from a notes app full of dreams and late-night musings. “making out” carries that charged, electric anticipation of a perfect day.
2charm share – “‘making out’ started as a dream about a crush but it found its way into song when Nina and I got in my home studio on 11/11 last year for a few hours of making music before the Addison Rae concert. Like a gift from the star scum gods, ‘making out’ fell into our laps.
The single follows their hot debut record, star scum city, released in February this year, which earned critical praise and features across Pitchfork, The FADER, Dork, King Kong, PAPER, Rolling Stone AU, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Music, Notion (One’s To Watch 2026) and support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and triple j (feature album) for their thrilling concoction of blissful europop melodies, beats inspired by the sweat, allure and electricity of the dancefloor, and lyricism inspired by their escape to the big city and newfound self-hood.
Sexed-up, sweaty club music filled with midnight resolutions, star scum city is shaped by the laid-bare honesty and sly, winking style of Britney Spears’ Blackout. Drawing on the EDM techno-sleaze sounds of deadmau5, SOPHIE, Skrillex and Zedd, 2charm’s album was forged in collaboration with Ninajirachi, 1tbsp and Simon Lam (Kllo, Armlock).
In just over a year, 2charm have evolved from small-town footy boys into international techno sleaze favourites, with peers in the likes of Slayyyter, Ninajirachi, daine, Sidney Philips, DJ Dave and more. The pair have rapidly gained an international following through prolific live shows at SXSW, tours with Slayyyter and Ninajirachi and sold-out headline shows across Australia, the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Europe. They are set to close the year back at Beyond The Valley on 31 December and continue the New Year’s celebrations with Field Day on 1 January. More recently, offstage, the duo launched their alternative luxury apparel brand, AusBoyfrnd. The label’s collegiate, locker room-inspired ready-to-wear collections blend classic silhouettes with contemporary finesse.
