For one week this May, the humble gin and tonic is stepping into the spotlight.
Fever-Tree G&T WEEK is landing across Australia from 18-24 May, uniting some of the country’s most exciting bars, restaurants and cellar doors with a lineup of boutique distilleries to showcase a new way to drink one of the world’s most iconic serves. The initiative has been developed in partnership with Gin Events.
Across the week, venues from Bondi to Byron, Adelaide to Perth will be pouring curated premium gin and tonic serves at special prices, alongside dedicated menus, pairings and a mix of in-venue activations designed to spotlight the best of local gin. It’s a chance to try something new, revisit a favourite spot, or see what happens when a simple drink is done properly.
Because while the G&T remains one of the most ordered drinks in Australia, it’s not always given the attention it deserves.
“The gin and tonic is one of those drinks everyone thinks they know, but when it’s done properly, it becomes something completely different. There’s real craft behind a great G&T, from the gin and the tonic through to how it’s served, and this week is about bringing that to life in some of the best venues around the country. It’s a chance to experience the drink at its best,” said Judith Kennedy AM, CEO and Founder of Gin Events.
From landmark venues like Icebergs Dining Room and Bar in Bondi to neighbourhood favourites like The Barber Shop in Sydney, Hains & Co in Adelaide and White Rabbit Cocktail Room in Canberra, and even on board the Searoad Ferry between Sorrento and Queenscliff, a mix of established names and local institutions will take part and become a stop on the G&T trail. They’ll be paired with gins from distilleries including Ester Spirits, Hickson House, Lume Distilling, Burly Gin and Bellarine Spirits.
Darren Dalzell, National Sales & Trade Marketing Manager for Fever-Tree Australia said “At Fever-Tree, we go to the ends of the earth to source the world’s finest natural ingredients, and now we’re excited to partner with Gin Events to bring that same spirit of discovery to Australia and New Zealand in celebrating the very best Gins across the region. We believe the G&T is more than just a drink, and with the right ingredients and attention to detail; it becomes something far more. We call it a G&TC; a Gin & Tonic, reimagined as a cocktail experience.”
As part of the week, there’s also the chance to win a year’s supply of G&Ts, for those making their way along the G&T trail.
Alongside the venue activations, the week also coincides with the inaugural Fever-Tree G&T CUP, a national competition to find the best gin and tonic pairing in Australia and New Zealand. The top five G&Ts and ultimate winner will be revealed as the week kicks off, giving people the chance to experience some of the country’s best combinations in venues across the country.
Whether it’s discovering a new distillery, chasing down a great-value premium serve, or just rethinking a drink you thought you already knew, G&T Week is designed as an open invitation to explore.
