In a world increasingly dominated by digital screens and surface-level networking, a new initiative is inviting Sydney to slow down, pull up a chair, and rediscover the power of genuine human connection.

On Wednesday 29 April 2026, Song Hotel Sydney and community platform OneAnother are proud to host Purposeful Plates, an intimate, shared-table dining experience designed to combat social isolation and foster real-world belonging.

Hosted at the renowned Song Kitchen, this event marks a shift away from traditional, high-pressure networking. Instead, it leans into the timeless tradition of breaking bread together to build meaningful community ties.

Every seat at the table represents more than just a dinner reservation; it is an act of purpose. As Sydney’s first profit-for-purpose hotel, Song Hotel is proudly operated by YWCA Australia. Every booking and every meal served supports vital programs providing housing, essential services, and leadership opportunities for women and families across the country.

“At OneAnother, we’ve seen firsthand how vital it is to create spaces where people can truly connect,” says Lisa Hollinshead, Founder of OneAnother. “Purposeful Plates is about removing the transactional nature of events and creating an environment where connection happens naturally, one conversation at a time.”

The evening features a curated three-course menu by Song Kitchen, designed to spark conversation and comfort. Guests will also hear from passionate voices leading the charge in community impact:

  • Helen Waters, YWCA Australia: Championing systemic change and community resilience.
  • George Karounis, Our Big Kitchen: A Bondi-based powerhouse delivering over 80,000 meals annually to those in need across NSW.

Together, they will explore how we can better support one another in modern life and the simple, yet radical, impact of choosing community over isolation.

In a move toward more intentional and considered gatherings, capacity is strictly limited. We invite you to join us for an evening of warmth, purposeful dialogue, and delicious food that gives back to the community.
