Hey everyone, I just got wind of something seriously cool coming up that I thought you’d all want to know about: FRMEFEST 2025, presented with Canon Australia! It’s happening right here in Sydney on 19-20 July at the awesome Carriageworks. From what I understand, it’s going to bring together thousands of photographers, videographers, and filmmakers.

This isn’t just a typical industry thing. It sounds like an incredibly immersive, two-day summit designed to celebrate creativity and foster connections. They’re apparently offering over 63 hands-on workshops, masterclasses, and activations, all aimed at helping visual content creators like us up-skill, get inspired, and find support.

I heard Selina Tran, the FRMEFEST Group Director, talking about it, and she mentioned their theme is “Framing the Future.” She pointed out that with AI developing so fast, it’s a new era for our industry. The goal is to bring together the best minds to tackle challenges, fix long-standing pain points, find new opportunities, and really help shape and future-proof visual storytelling. Sounds pretty vital, right?

Selina also explained that they’re really trying to build a dedicated space for visual creators to meet, share knowledge, push boundaries, and support each other. It’s cool to see so many sponsors and creators, both local and international, getting behind this vision.

Speaking of partners, they’ve got some big names on board like Canon, Camera House, Fujifilm, Sony, Lumix, Nikon, FujiFilm PI, OM Systems, RØDE, Porsche, and more. And the speaker lineup? It’s genuinely impressive. They’ve got:

  • Vinh Giang: He’s a global award-winning keynote speaker and storytelling coach. Vinh is known for his unique background as a magician, which he expertly weaves into his presentations to help thousands transform how they communicate, both on and off camera, and master the art of performance-enhanced communication for business and life.
  • David Suh: Flying in all the way from Los Angeles, David is a world-renowned portrait photographer, educator, and content creator. He’s incredibly popular for his ability to redefine the art of posing, teaching everyday people how to build confidence and feel amazing in front of the lens by understanding body language and self-expression.
  • Tom Noske: A highly respected creator, filmmaker, and endurance athlete from Melbourne, Tom is dedicated to supporting a new generation of visual storytellers. His expertise lies in helping creatives turn their passion into profit, sharing practical knowledge from his commercial filmmaking background on everything from tech to personal development and monetizing your brand.
  • Lenny Bartholomäus: A true visionary in 3D visual effects and CGI storytelling, Lenny is flying from Berlin exclusively for FRMEFEST. His work pushes the boundaries of digital artistry, offering insights into advanced visual effects and how they can be used to create compelling narratives.

And honestly, so many more amazing talents! You’ll definitely want to see the full program.

There will be daily competitions with over $50K in prizes across both days, plus exclusive offers from Camera House. It honestly sounds like an unmissable experience for visual storytellers of all levels.

Aaron Berthelot from Canon Oceania even said that FRMEFEST is a “unique opportunity for industry leaders and emerging creators to connect, share expertise and get hands-on with the latest gear.” He mentioned that Canon is proud to support it because “we don’t just build technology, we champion and support the people behind the lens.” That’s a great sentiment.

Selina also added that “FRMEFEST is no ordinary industry event.” Their mission is to spark creativity, drive innovation, address industry concerns, and really fuel the dreams of photographers, videographers, content creators, and visual storytellers worldwide. They’re super excited to bring everyone together this July.

Tickets are $299 for a 2-day pass, or $179 for a 1-day pass, and they even have group discounts.

So, yeah, just wanted to share the news about FRMEFEST. It sounds like it’s going to be a massive event for anyone into visual storytelling! Are any of you thinking of going?
