Made by hand, with heart: Woodfolk Flourishing collection

Woodfolk Flourshing

Australian natural, ethical and sustainable accessories brand Woodfolk, has today launched its Flourishing collection, the newest addition to its range of natural jewellery, homewares and accessories. Designed in Australia and humbly handmade in collaboration with artisan families, Woodfolk are passionate about creating opportunity, self-determination, support and hope in Nepalese communities through social entrepreneurship.

The last time I caught up with Julia Denes, was when she launched her Spring Flow Collection. Which was her fourth collection in the natural range.

Now into her fifth collection in the range of jewellery and homewares made from ceramic, stoneware and natural Nepalese hardwood. Spanning from necklaces, earrings and rings to plates, vases and wooden kitchen trivets, Flourishing exudes simplicity, femininity and conscious style.

What I enjoy most of Woodfolk is the minimalist and earthy look, complementing the wearer or home rather than overtake with the modern design that has no substance. Handmade with rich colour combinations and special techniques, each piece is as unique as the next. Supporting Nepalese communities through trade, not aid, Julia has a strong commitment to working with small family-run businesses, as well as women focused organisations. With relationships built on trust, equality, fair trade and a long term goal of bringing meaningful change to their lives, Woodfolk aim to demonstrate a fairer alternative to businesses seeking trade with third world communities.

“The continued work with our artisans is a testament to the design and development of each piece. Working to educate consumers about their fashion choices and this impact, we’re so excited to be launching our fifth collection, Flourishing,” says Julia.

Flourishing has a very rustic and organic feel to it and inspired by simple, purposeful design, it has allowed us to show the beauty in imperfection.

With the desire to educate consumers about their fashion choices, the collaborations with Nepali artisans allows us to provide full transparency to our customers, from the working conditions to the materials they use. A proud and active member of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and strive to encourage ethical fashion choices amongst buyers.

Working in harmony and balance with communities in need and with nature, Woodfolk are passionate about creating pieces that do not impact the environment and create viable opportunities that assist artisans and their families in creating sustainable change in their lives.
