Samantha Leigh Dodemaide is off to see the wizard. She’s donning the infamous ruby red slippers and stepping into the limelight for her leading role in the much-loved musical The Wizard of Oz. The London Palledonian adaptation premieres on the Australian Stage at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre before arriving at Sydney’s beloved Capital Theatre from the 30th December.
Producers John Frost and Suzanne Jones couldn’t be happier with their casting choice. “Dorothy needed to be smart, brave, compassionate, selfless and encouraging to others, and Sam is all that and more.”
Joining her down the yellow brick road is Anthony Warlow as The Wizard, Lucy Durack as Glinda the Good Witch and Jemma Rix as The Wicked Witch of the West. Further cast members will be announced shortly, along with the lucky pooch who will play Toto. With such a well-known cast and crew, this production will be taken to the next level and promises to be an unforgettable night in the magical land of Oz.
The production features favorite characters performing well-known songs from Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs. The Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic and a tale filled with valuable lessons, laughs and adventure.
