Sydney’s hidden rooftop bar, The Rook nestled above the busy CBD streets, has transformed into an awe-inspiring Cherry Blossom Garden taking influence from Japan’s most talked about season. The Japanese inspired pop-up will offer a range of exclusive dining experiences until 31 May, taking guests on a cultural journey and immersing them in the springtime tradition of Hanami.
On entry, you will step into the Cherry Blossom Garden through a beautiful, bright pink floral installation, taking you right into the heart of Japan’s sakura season. You are then invited to completely immerse yourself within the pastel pink pop-up and feast upon the newly curated dishes, all whilst sitting under a canopy of flowers in the Japanese-style garden.
Must try bites: Loaded Gyoza with furikake, tonkatsu sauce, kewpie and bonito flakes; Pork Katsu with bitchin’ slaw and golden curry; Soft Shell Crab Burger with wasabi mayo and Japanese slaw; and Black Sesame Cheesecake. You won’t be dissapointed (casually licks fingers).
Ok , lets talk about the bar team. They have curated a Japanese cocktail list for the season, inspired by traditional flavours and ingredients.
Cocktails: Sake It To Me – Sake, Sukura Vermouth, Lychee, Lime and Mint; Gorgeous Geisha – Roku Gin, Sake and Vanilla Chai Tea Syrup; Hello Kitty – Jinzu Gin, Cherry Blossom Syrup and Lime; and Wasabi Pea Old Fashioned – Fuyu Whiskey, Sakura Vermouth, Wasabi Syrup and Plum Bitters.
Along with the refreshed food and drinks menu, The Rook is also offering two exclusive Japanese weekly specials:
