Ragu Pasta and Wine Bar: Westfield Sydney

Located in Westfield Shopping Mall Sydney CBD level 5, is a sophisticated and moderately priced food court, where you’ll find your one stop for all things pasta and wine, Ragu Pasta and Wine Bar.

When the words, food court, are spoken, people normally crunch up their nose and try to steer clear of the smell of fast food and unclean tables, I know I do. But the food court in Westfield is not your typical food court. It's more of an open space sitting area for restaurants and dessert bars, each restaurant having their own dinning and eating areas.

It is truly sophisticated.

Ragu Pasta and Wine Bar is a go to at the mall, and embodies non-traditional food court meals. The meals are served just as they are in a restaurant, with table service and a bar, making dinning alone less awkward and more of a quick stop on a Thursday night, or any night. The beauty about high end food courts, is that you can dine alone without entering a restaurant or indulging in greasy fast-food at your typical food court.

The lay-out takes me back to the streets of Rome, with marble tables and cute metal chairs with black and white cushions, and a full menu in traditional Italian expressions, I was swept away and entirely forgot I was in Sydney.

Despite the setup being oh so Italian, the menu offers many different types of food to feast on. With entrées from bruschetta to garlic bread, to pastas such as ravioli and beef tortellini, where you are able to pick your own pasta and have it cooked to your liking. As well as pasta and bread, there is also a selection of seafood, meat and paninis, making the menu fit for every type of food lover, and not just
those who love to eat endless amounts of pasta.

On my visit, I ordered ricotta and spinach ravioli and paired this with a tomato sauce, and the combination could not have been better.

Prices typically range from $12 dollars for an entrée to $20 for a main meal.

Along with the delicate cuisine, there comes a wide range of cocktails, wine and drinks to choose from. The Aperol Spritz was a preferred favourite.

Whether you want a quick pitstop for food, drinks or both, Ragus is ideal and is situated in a perfect location, because we all know how hungry we get when we are in the middle of a credit card splurge.
