Paris on the way

Paris on the way

Contrary to some other travellers, when I am alone, I do like going on guided tours that have some real substance in the program of activities. When I do travel with a friend, discovering the city as is always fun and finding the corner cafe’s, free activities and the main places to see (from the giant tourist map that people tend to carry).

But there are certain things that even my friend and I can’ figure out – and that is the history of certain places. Sure, go to the same places where guides take you, but do you really understand what goes on at the Louvre, are the stories true about Notre Dame de Paris, or even walking through the Luxembourg Gardens?

Say bonjour to Paris On the Way, France’s leading personalised tour guide company, offering over 70 classic and themed tours of Paris, Normandy and Bordeaux.

Paris On the Way isn’t your typical tour guide company. Fully endorsed by the French Ministry for Culture, Paris On the Way delivers tours that are heart-felt, memorable and bespoke…combining French savoir faire with true joie de vivre.

The English-speaking guides love sharing their passion and knowledge of French history, art and culture. Whether visiting an iconic Parisian landmark, a mind-blowing museum or castle, discovering sensational Parisian shopping secrets, or enjoying a fun-filled (but educational) children’s scavenger hunt of the Musee d’Orsay, Paris On the Way delivers much more than any guide book or cattle call-style large group tour.

More than likely, your travel plans include a stay in Paris where there is always more to discover and rediscover even for the most seasoned visitor.

Highlights of some of the tours available.

Museums: The Louvre, The Musee d’ Orsay
Monuments: The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame de Paris
Walking Tours: Montmarte, Covered passages of Paris
Thematic Tours: French bakery tour in Paris, Josephine and the La Malmaison
Castle and Abbeys: The Chateau de Versailles, The Abbey of Mont Saint Michel

Guided tours certainly do have their place if the guide is good and able to impart knowledge and insights about the city that you are visiting. I’m looking forward to a visit to Paris, so thanks for your suggestions.
