Bold, innovative and art-driven, the independent lifestyle hotel brand, Ovolo Hotels, has landed in Sydney with a unique transformation of two signature properties. As the epitome of where Sydney has come from, these iconic, heritage-listed spaces in Woolloomooloo and Pyrmont now represent everything the future of hospitality holds.
Work. Rest. Play. Repeat
Marrying a disruptive, technology-led take on modern travel with design that captures the essence of local life, Ovolo Hotels provides business and leisure guests with all the comforts of intelligent, effortless living. The convention-challenging founder and visionary behind Ovolo, Girish Jhunjhnuwala, has driven this philosophy;
“Since 2002, we’ve been on a mission to redefine modern hospitality by creating new and intuitive concepts that deliver from the customers’ point of view,” says Jhunjhnuwala. “It’s an honour to now own and operate two of the most iconic landmarks in the great city of Sydney. What we hope for, is that Australians and world travelers alike will take the chance to experience what defines the Ovolo touch.”
Ovolo’s unique signature services include Continental breakfast, free mini bar, free Wi-Fi with no download limits and no restriction on the number of devices used, Apple TV, a daily happy hour with free-flow wine, beers, spirits and canapes, 24 hour gym and self-service laundry are all included as part of your nightly rate. Additionally, Ovolo fosters communal engagement among guests with the company’s highly-praised Lo Lounge, available across all of its properties. At the Lo Lounge, Hotel guests can work and relax whilst being served all day snacks, free coffee and drinks.
In the soaring spaces of the former Wool Stores building, Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour brings together Sydney’s old world charm and contemporary design with Ovolo’s service culture to offer a truly mind-blowing experience in modern hospitality. Renowned Australian artist, Jasper Knight, has brought his distinctive style to each of the 90 rooms – from floor-to-ceiling murals to mixed medium artworks, Knight’s creative force is ever-present throughout the hotel.
As the Woolloomooloo Wharf celebrates its 100th birthday, Ovolo Woolloomooloo brings the timber-piled wharf back to life. Bridging the gap between history and modern luxury, the seamless integration of the Ovolo touch sees contemporary design elements enliven the original fixtures of the property. The art-rich rooms and suites tell a uniquely portrayed Australian story infused into the design features.
Ovolo Woolloomooloo will see the epicenter of the park and harbourside suburb return to the Wharf with a boutique food and beverage offering as well as a high-end modular event centre currently set to open early 2016.
A dynamic lifestyle hospitality company that provides guests with the BEST in effortless living because they know it’s all about YOU!
“We transformed the vast, central space into a laneway featuring a series of ‘pavilions’ and an avenue of trees. These all help to break up and lighten a previously dark, cold space, making it a more comfortable place to spend time while never compromising the building’s unique architecture. These pavilions house the reception area, a bar, a library and private dining areas to give the hotel its strong sense of identity,” said Matthew Sheargold, HASSELL Senior Associate and project leader.
While the two newest Ovolo Hotels in Sydney complement the successful Ovolo Laneways in Melbourne, these properties reflect the vision of Ovolo as a collection of hotels with their own signature rather than the same, stale style found in hotel chains across the globe.
