#nofilter needed at Ovolo 1888

Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour

I had the pleasure in staying at one of Sydney’s newest lifestyle hotel group, Ovolo Hotels. Offering guests with the best in effortless living as they claim they know what we want.

Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour was designed for the socially addicted, like me, to catch all the right angles for taking the right photo or selfie. #nofilter needed.

Initially I was just going to write about my hotel experience, but I decided to change it up just a little and collaborate with some friends. Catch Bloggers on location for details on how much fun it was with Mary (@socialime) and Izzi (@_izzi).

Minutes from Darling Harbour, I have arrived at the former Wool Store building, this charming boutique hotel has 90 art-inspired rooms and a Lo Lounge. I was a little early to check-in, but the staff at reception was fantastic. Yes, I may have been a local, but if I were a normal travelling guest, I was given options in what to do around the area or the choice to relax in the Lo Lounge and enjoy the free WIFI (for guest).

The Ovolo FREEdom inclusions

FREE Breakfast, FREE In-Room Bar and Snacks, FREE Happy Hour at Lo Lounge, FREE Superspeed WIFI. All-Day Gourmet Coffee and Snacks, Smart In-Room technology – Apple TV, 24 HR Flexible Checkout.

It’s all about the rooms

The glass lifts offer an original view of the lobby but more so the round hanging artwork globe. Starting from the “Shoebox” is perfect for the solo traveller with a queen bed to the “Shaken” and “Stirred” suites – with it’s split level space to give you the freedom of modern luxury. One with your own private blue door entrance and bar, and the other a private rooftop terrace

For tonight, I slept in the “Loft” room, where the entertainment is downstairs and the private bedroom upstairs. With Natural light spilling into the airy loft room, exposed brick walls and pop-art colours across the rooms.

I have stayed in a few hotels and pretty quickly I tend look over the room for comfort and space. The in-room iPad (FYI: this is where you adjust your AC) provides great tips and all that has on offer. Bathroom amenities by Biology Smart Skincare and even toothbrushes + mouthwash.

All the rooms are designed very well, with high ceilings, plenty of natural light, timber salvaged desks and brick wall features. Ovolo really does know who to win over their guests. I did mention about the in-room bar and snacks.

There’s no actual restaurant, but guests can enjoy the laid-back hangout in the lobby. This is where you head for happy hour drinks and canapés from 5pm – 7pm, or if you feel a little peckish you can order their limited menu and where you make your morning spread, Continental breakfast is served + hot food is additional.

I opted to have breakfast in bed (for an additional cost), a curated selection of meats and cheeses, freshly sliced fruits and a hot breakfast – barista coffee to help perk me up.

I had a few moments with Venezuelan Chef Alex Jaramillo to thank him for my breakfast spread. We chatted about the menu, from Spanish tapas style food to complement the bar to sharing platters and substantial a-la-carte main. Shareable platters are very popular with guests prior to a night out at the town.

Overall, hotel service is brilliant, from making the reservation to when you checkout. Value for money when you add all the free inclusions.

Have you stayed at an Ovolo hotel property, share you experience with us.
