Bloggers may have celebrated an evening of luxury at Porsche Sydney South, hosted by Robert Dessanti from The Wog with the Grog. But it wasn’t all glam and prosecco here, this was the Nardini Cocktail Mixing Challenge Finale.
The best entries – based on creativity and ingredients used were chosen to showcase their cocktail. From all genres (food, wine, travel & lifestyle) only a handful of bloggers managed to pass the preliminary stages.
Yes, yours truly did made the finals and the only thing I won from the night is the lasting friendship I made. Haha, plus the love for Nardini Grappa. Where did this spirit come from and why didn’t I discover this sooner.
First of all, grappa is made from distilling the fermented pomace (skins and seeds left from table wine production), or ‘vinaccia’ in Italian. The substance is a solid, but spongy and delicate – unlike brandy which is distilled from fermented grape juice.
From the ten finalist, there can only be one winner and that person will enjoy an amazing trip to Bassano del Grappa, in the region of Veneto, Italy. Second prize was a degustation dinner at La Pesa restaurant for 10 people with matching wines to the value $1200. Third prize was a Nardini pack valued at $500, and fourth prize was a $500 beauty pack from O Cosmedics.
The judging criteria was based on creativity, taste, presentation, garnishes, even choice of glassware, and the judges at the finale were:
Corinne Mossati – founder of Gourmantic, and Cocktails & Bars
Erin Bouda – Producer at Channel Nine’s ‘Today’ show
Chloe Adamson – Events Manager at Porsche Sydney South
Grace Cuciniello – Grace Cuciniello Travel Counsellors
Food cooked by renowned Chef Luca Ciano, oysters from Rockin’ Oysters shucked by Sydney Oyster Girls, salumi from De Palma Salumi, Italian desserts by Pasticceria Caruso, Yasa Caviar from Luxe Seafoods, sparkling wine from Majolini, and of course, cocktails made with all of the Grappa Nardini range, guests enjoyed a luxe night of food and wine, served by hostesses dressed in Roxcii fashion, in the prestigious Porsche showroom.
Congratulations to a good friend of mine, Vanessa Roberts from Breakfast With Audrey, for taking the first prize spot with her cocktail creation, Glamadonna. Ciao bella and enjoy Italy!
Roberto quoted “This event was dreamt up with the intention to capture the imagination of the creative community of bloggers, who all write about the finer things in life, and whose photos and content are all about aesthetics, elegance, good taste, and lifestyle. We felt the Nardini brand encompassed all of these elements, and were thrilled we could introduce the brand to the bloggers, and have them create their version of how the brand could be translated into their signature drink.”
Better get your grips with Grappa, Nardini
