Wednesday 17 December marked the official opening to Sydney’s outdoor Moonlight Cinemas in Centennial Park. I was only of the lucky few who attended a special preview of Bill Murray’s new indie comedy-drama, St. Vincent.
A story of Vincent, an old Vietnam vet whose stubbornly hedonistic ways have left him without money or a future. Things change when his new next-door neighbor’s son, Oliver, needs a babysitter and Vince is willing enough for a fee. From that self-serving act, an unexpected friendship forms as Vincent and Oliver find so much of each other’s needs through each other. As Vincent mentors Oliver in street survival and other worldly ways, Oliver begins to see more in the old man than just his foibles. When life takes a turn for the worse for Vincent, both them find the best in each other than no one around them suspects. Starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts.
The red carpet was rolled out with a star studded audience, David & Christie Whitehall, April Rose Pengilly, Tim Robards, Anna Heinrich, Chelsea Williamson and Liam Hall.
With bean beds at the ready on the pristine lawn, champagne & wine provided by Treasury Wine Estate, and a selection of food from the new LA style food truck – we were ready for the relaxing night under the stars.
It was a great evening and I’m sure that you will enjoy the selection of movies this summer, check out their website for more details and don’t forget Doggie Nights, Saturday night live music sessions and cult classic nights.
