A pop-up wellness retreat

in The Hunter Valley

Mouth-watering organic cuisine, yoga, nutrition workshops, “soul sessions”, and one on-one wellness coaching are on offer in a pop-up retreat in the Hunter Valley from the 10 January to 14 January 2016.

The retreat is the brainchild of Kimara Rio, a holistic health coach and entrepreneur. The retreat will act as a four-day getaway aimed at helping people heal, detox and learn more about themselves.

“We will have a staff of four people permanently on site for a group of 10-15 people. There are alternative and varied daily activities such as yoga, sound healing meditation, massages, spa treatments, fermentation workshops, wellness talks + coaching, cooking demonstrations, raw chocolate making, tarot reading, and spiritual bushwalks,” Kimara said.

“It is a gorgeous location, beautiful rooms with a serene setting in the country and outdoor spa to chill in at night and watch the stars. We have an incredible Chef, Emma Anderson from Rustic Raw, on site who will be plating up creative, innovative and delicious meals. The plant-based menu has been lovingly designed with the intention to cleanse and nourish, as well as excite and inspire the group. For something different, lunch will be served Omakase style, which feature house dishes selected by the Chef.

With the wonderfully talented yogi on site, Rani Foreman from Road to Wellness, who will be leading the yoga and meditation program tailored to different levels in the group.”

Kimara has also launched a blog that delves into the challenges we face today in regards to happiness, hormones and health. After silently suffering from numerous health problems over the years including leaky gut syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome, insulin resistance, adrenal fatigue, drug addiction, binge eating disorder and chronic candidiasis, she has created the retreat to inspire others who are suffering with modern day stressors, weight management, unhealthy habits and mindset.

“In the lead up to my diagnosis I struggled with an eating disorder, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was in a constant fog, drifting through life using food, alcohol, caffeine and drugs to prop me up,” she said. Kimara wants to spread the powerful yet simple message of self love, and is taking the pop-up retreat concept international with plans already underway and moving to Brazil in the New Year.

“These retreats will awaken your mind, cleanse the body and refresh your spirit. I want to create a space that allows people to explore their own identity and health issues, to get to the root cause of what ails them. After 4 days you can expect to feel reinvigorated, inspired and motivated to continue your own journey to health. Some of the benefits include weight loss (previous retreat participants saw a loss of at least 2 kilos), brighter eyes, clear skin, ease of any health problems like bloating, acne, sleep and digestive problems, as well as a greater sense of calm and bliss.”

The group is carefully selected based on application criteria to ensure that the space promotes an energy of openness in terms of connection, engagement and personal growth. Additionally, upon application you are asked to select your preferences for “Soul Sessions” e.g. tarot reading, raw chocolate making, sound healing meditation, essential oil workshop etc. so that the retreat is tailored to your unique desires.
