Australia’s Gold Coast is a place of wonderful contrast and diversity. One could easily fall in love with the pristine beaches, natural attractions and for the young at heart, home to the largest theme park.
Above all, I recently stayed at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, a weekend holiday destination offering a real variety of experiences and activities. Tailored to suit a leisurely weekend of golf with friends or an all-inclusive corporate event venue.
I arrived at “The Great house”, a stunning building that is home to the resorts reception, restaurant and bar. From my room I could look down onto the golf course fairway. The room had a colonial Queensland feel about it, with its wooden base bed, wooden floors and white sliding plantation shutters. With 243 rooms and suites, picturesque fountains, manicured lush gardens, a marina, golf course and home to a spectacular one-acre beach lagoon. How could you not relax at this place!
The evening started with dinner at their signature restaurant, The Fireplace. With dim lighting to set the mood, it felt like I was in someone’s private dining room waiting to be served an exquisite meal with the open wood-fire oven kitchen in the background.
Executive Sous Chef Parashuram Pathak brings in a new menu each season, capturing wholesome ingredients that fill your taste buds with excitement. It doesn’t stop there, the meals are expertly matched with wines, courtesy of the Fireplace Sommelier David Stevens-Castro.
Just a taste of the menu

I’ve been told there is just over 2,000sqm of conference space, that’s massive! With 14 dedicated rooms all with natural light and most opening onto garden terraces. You can transform your corporate meeting to a spectacular gala dinner on the grounds, or have an amazing social or launch event by the lagoon beach.
With the variety of flexible meeting spaces, the conference sales team has a fun time bringing clients a unique experience and offering inspiring breakouts from workshop sessions. This resort is a popular venue for executive retreats, incentive conferences and training programs. With a Ballroom capacity up to 300 banquet size or 500 theatre setup, in-house audiovisual and theming support. You can understand why its rated first class with international standards.
Not to forget the wedding parties – the options are limitless with professional service and an amazing Wedding Chapel overlooking the Commera River. The Chapel offers an intimate setting for 80 guests, a beautiful white marble aisle and glass topped registry table. The perfect setting to exchange your vows.
There are so many reasons why InterContinental Sanctuary Cove is the ideal location for your next conference or weekend of golf. To me it’s all about the 5-star service commitment from the team and tranquil environment that surrounds the property.
