Etihad Airways launched its new aircraft A380 , new designer uniforms and its ultra luxury The Residence and The Apartment in the Australia’s iconic, Opera House. The airline gathered a plethora of travel and media aficionados in Sydney, including your’s truly, who had an exclusive viewing of the A380 The Residence and The Apartment.
Etihad’s much-anticipated A380 arrived in Sydney this week, beginning a new era of luxury travel on the Sydney-Abu Dhabi and Sydney-London routes. Sydney Airport is the first and only airport in Australia and one of only two destinations in the world to welcome Etihad’s new flagship A380 service.
The sheer luxury, comfort and service does not come close to describe the experience.
Etihad’s A380 will be configured with 498 passengers made up of 417 in economy, 70 in Business Studios, nine in First Apartments and two in The Residence.
Inside the A380, the ultimate luxury is the exclusive The Residence by Etihad on the upper deck – a new 125 square metre cabin which includes a living room, separate ensuite shower, bedroom, a Savoy-trained and personal butler as well as an inflight personal chef. The approximate price of The Residence by Etihad is A$86,000 return from Sydney to London, which entitles up to two people to travel in The Residence.
The A380 also features the First Apartment with a private living spaces featuring a reclining lounge chair and an ottoman, upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather, which opens up to become a separate 80.5 inch long fully flat bed. Each of the nine First Apartments in First Class offers a 74 per cent increase in space over the airline’s current award-winning First Class Suites, a 24” LCD TV monitor and personal vanity unit. A fully equipped shower room is available for the exclusive use of First Class guests.
The Lobby, a luxurious lounge located between the First Class and Business Class cabins, features two comfortable leather sofas and a staffed bar serving a selection of snacks and refreshments.
