Tilbury Deck: Hendrick’s Gin Pop-Up Bar

Tilbury Hendrick's Orbium

This October, the Hendrick’s Assistance Dispensary for Advantageous Cocktail Mixing Bar will take up residency at The Tilbury Deck for a month of glorious cocktail concoctions. The Tilbury Deck will also be one of the few locations in Sydney serving the new, limited edition Hendrick’s Orbium, allowing Sydney-siders to be some of the first in Australia to try this experimental new gin.

The Tilbury Deck, located upstairs at The Tilbury Hotel, will become a gin haven from Friday, October 19 until Sunday, November 18; the ultimate destination to enjoy bespoke Hendrick’s cocktails.

Four Hendrick’s Gin cocktails will be available during the month, alongside the new release Hendrick’s Orbium and soda which will be served exclusively within the venue from the Hendrick’s Assistance Dispensary for Advantageous Cocktail Mixing Bar. Custom made for this event, the Hendrick’s Assistance Dispensary for Advantageous Cocktail Mixing Bar resembles a glorious Victorian bath-tub, albeit it one best suited for boozing and not bathing… Complete with ornate fixtures such as a converted shower-head light, curtain, taps and wheels, this bath- tub bar is the first of its kind produced by Hendrick’s internationally and will be the only location within The Tilbury Deck to source your Hendrick’s Orbium and soda.

A reimagining of Hendrick’s Gin by their Master Distiller, Lesley Gracie, Hendrick’s Orbium is instilled with additional extracts of Quinine, Wormwood and Blue Lotus Blossom, resulting in an oddly exquisite gin that sits roundly on the palate. Made with the same distillates as Hendrick’s Gin, Hendrick’s Orbium takes gin in an altogether new direction by infusing flavours that are traditionally associate with classic gin libations; quinine found in tonic and wormwood, found in Vermouth. It’s what Hendrick’s might taste like in a parallel universe so wipe out any notion of mixing this with tonic and go straight for the soda with a few slices of cucumber.

The cocktails available at The Tilbury Deck during this month-long activation include:

The Thrilbury | $18
Hendrick’s Gin, pineapple juice, apple juice, cucumber, sugar syrup, cucumber, mint
Refreshingly fruity, The Thrilbury may be small but boy, does she have flavour.

Baz Lime-On | $18
Hendrick’s Gin, lime juice, sugar syrup, cucumber, basil leaves
As debonair as its namesake, Baz Lime-On has the sophistication of The Great Gatsby, the fun of Moulin Rouge and the classic appeal of Strictly Ballroom.

The Lesley Gracie | $16
Hendrick’s Gin, elderflower, soda water, cucumber
Lesley is the alchemist who created Hendrick’s Gin and this is how she chooses to drink it. Smooth and floral with room for Hendrick’s botanical wonders to shine through like the light of a supernova illuminating a mermaid at clog dance. This is the cocktail for those in the know.

Hendrick’s Gin & Tonic | $14
Hendrick’s Gin, tonic, cucumber
Sublime simplicity itself. There’s a good reason the Hendrick’s Gin and tonic, with its cucumber garnish, is so loved.

Hendrick’s Orbium & Soda | $16
Hendrick’s Orbium, soda
A refreshing classic, perfect for spring with the familiar floral glow of Hendrick’s, reimagined.

Hendrick’s Assistance Dispensary for Advantageous Cocktail Mixing Bar is located at The Tilbury Deck, which is found upstairs at The Tilbury Hotel. The bespoke cocktail list and Hendrick’s Orbium will only be available here for the pop-up and will not be available elsewhere at The Tilbury. Hendrick’s Orbium is an on-premise release only and will be available in limited edited nationally from October.
