Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific is bringing a taste of the country to the beach, as host of the inaugural ‘Cowra on the Coast’ Food and Wine Festival on Saturday 6 July, a day-long event, in partnership with Cowra Tourism and Cowra Wine Region.
Cowra about a 4.5 hours drive from Terrigal (355kms), west of Sydney. It continues to thrive as a NSW wine destination, home to over 40 vineyards, forming part of the Central Ranges Wine Zone alongside Mudgee and Orange as other participating wine regions.
‘Cowra on the Coast’ Food and Wine Festival has been designed as a free, family-friendly food and wine event during the day. Kicking off from 11am at the hotel’s Florida Beach Bar, enjoy a tipple of the local Cowra vintage while tasting a variety of central west produce including spit-roasted Cowra lamb from Breakout River meats.
So what to do first? Take part in masterclass events and meet the winemakers from a number of Cowra region’s vineyards, learning more about this petite, historic wine area with a strong organic heart with 75% of the brands produced in the region being certified organic. Enjoy the live music, kids entertainment and a variety of food and wine market stalls will contribute to the festival-like atmosphere.
In the evening, let’s get a bit more formal fancy at Seasalt Restaurant will host the Taste of Cowra – Meet the Winemakers dinner event, with a four-course menu showcasing the meats and produce of the region, perfectly matched with Cowra wines. A ticketed event, priced at $99 per person for the paired food and wine experience.
Cowra region winemakers involved in the dining event include Windowrie Wines of Canowindra, one of Cowra region’s founding winemakers; Wallington Wines, a family-owned biodynamic vineyard; Antonio’s Wines, a boutique wine label that specialises in Pinot; and Rosnay Organic Wines, Cowra’s first organic winery and producer of delicious olives and figs.
