The massive levels of FOMO from missing overseas holidays has reached breaking point – at least with me. Even making interstate travel plans has become a bit of a minefield, which makes me extra keen that CampToo is here to save me any more headaches – bring on the van life!

CampToo is, in short, an Airbnb for campervans and motorhomes. With over 4,000 vehicles on offer, it’s a pretty safe bet that CampToo will have what you’re looking for – from fully kitted- out caravans to a cute converted VW Kombi van. Thousands of Aussies have already taken advantage of CampToo’s easy-to-use and reliable service, which pairs aspiring #VanLife enthusiasts directly with vehicle owners. This means that the owner is able to take you through a full rundown of the features of each vehicle – and owners have the peace of mind of meeting your customers face to face. Furthermore, each vehicle is comprehensively insured for each trip, meaning that neither driver nor owner has to worry about anything that happens on the road.

For owners, the opportunity to rent out their unused motorhomes is a great incentive. We rented our van from Dan and Ned, two brothers who had renovated their old work van into an exquisite holiday motorhome (aptly named TinTin). They told me that after all that work, they only use it themselves for maybe four weeks in a year – and rent it out for the other 11 months of the year. CampToo has simplified that process and enabled them to safely rent out their pride and joy, and share their incredible work with others.

Taking TinTin out on the road was an experience I’ve never had before. The pick up process was easy, with Ned taking the time to show us the features of his van (including gas stove, fridge, fold-out bed and – most importantly – very insta-worthy light features) before handing over the keys and telling us to enjoy ourselves. The holiday itself was cheap as chips, with accommodation for the three nights costing us about $6 a night in National Parks, and petrol running us a bit over $200 for 1,200kms travel. There’s some seriously beautiful countryside in NSW, and with no overseas airports waiting for you, there’s never been a better excuse to go and check it out.

CampToo’s mission is to offer an inspiring and reliable outdoor vehicle experience, and from what I experienced, they’ve certainly delivered. CampToo support was in touch with me to let me know what to do if we had any trouble (which we thankfully didn’t), as well as checking in with us to make sure pick up and drop off had gone smoothly. Their service was impeccable, and I’ve never felt more reassured on a road trip (even in my own damn vehicle!). So, if you’re wondering what to do this summer, give #VanLife a go – you just might fall in love!
