Cambridge Audio G2 Speaker

Cambridge Audio G2

Recently I received a delivery of the new Cambridge Audio G2, a compact and sleek design mini Bluetooth speaker. The perfect audio companion, whether you’re listening to music on to go, having a picnic down the park or streaming your favourite songs throughout the house. Warning: flatmate may take control of your song choices.

With booming sound and up to 10 hours of battery life, the Cambridge Audio G2 can even charge your phone or tablet using the USB port on the base! Although you are not able to charge the speaker using the USB, you have to use the main power plug.

These days, it’s not difficult to find a Bluetooth speaker that provides reliable connectivity, long-lasting battery and great quality sound. But it is harder to find options that do it for a decent price, $249.

So let’s have a look at the specs for a little bit.

• Two speakers and two bass radiators
• Bluetooth with Near Field Communications (NFC)
• 3.5mm aux UBS charging post (for your other portable devices)
• Dimensions: 189mm x 67mm x 55mm (WxHxD)

This ‘Champagne Gold’, looks classy straight out of the box, and the smooth, wrap-around case and full grille go along way in making the unit look discrete. Available in Red, Blue, Titanium and Black. Perfect for any personality.

This speaker may be compact but does pack a punch in sound, clarity and depth in the bass. Did you know you are able to pair another G2 wirelessly and double the sound? That a pretty good option and place the speakers at opposite area (like a mini surround sound).

Pairing the speaker to my iphone was easy and give you a range of up to 10m. Perfect ot stream your music (I use Spotify), or if you have a older device, you can use the audio cable slot

Another cool feature is that you have the option to receive calls hands-free. With a built-in microphone, you can accept and end calls using the buttons on the unit and alter the volume. All without disconnecting the phone, once you have finished your call – your music continues where it left of.

When travelling, portability is always key. I look at how light a product is and how long the battery life is.

My home gym never felt soo good listening to my Spotify running playlist and not get tangled with my earphone cable whilst on the treadmill. If you feel that this might upset your other residence, you might want to try yoga in your lounge room then.

But really, does it fair well in the elements? Okay, it’s not waterproof so I didn’t go swimming, and it is not that portable when going out for an adventure somewhere. I did take it for a picnic, out in the botanical gardens. You know, we all need a little background music whilst enjoying some fancy finger sandwiches and bubbles. Four hours later, music was still pumping through and even charged my our phones and still had plenty of battery power left.

It’s always a good idea to do your research and check out the right quality Bluetooth speaker for you. If you plan to take your speaker outdoors with you, it’s probably a good idea to find a speaker that has some kind of water, dust and some shock resistance. For me, it will be missed sitting on my dining room table.

The Cambridge Audio G2 in on my list.
