The Sydney entrepreneurs behind mobile phone app Burger Collective – a social platform that helps Australian burger lovers find the best burgers in their area, via authentic user reviews – founded the app in 2016 driven by a shared ambition to shine a light on local, independent burger businesses. The Burger Collective app showcases the honest, hard-working DIY business owners slinging the best burgers for the love of it… the outer suburban scene-stealers… the local neighborhood stalwarts… the inner-city hideaways…the new kids on the block. It’s been a tough year for small businesses in Australia, which is why Burger Collective feels proud to have connected 80,000 Sydney burger enthusiasts to quality burger stores and restaurants that needed some love in Sydney (and a further 40,000 around Australia!) in the past 12 months.
To celebrate National Cheeseburger Day – as well as the app’s recent upgrades/new features – and help bring even more exposure to local, independent burger businesses, Burger Collective will giveaway 350 free cheeseburgers to 1 in every 5 app downloaders – simply download the app (FREE) to see if you’ve won! Separate to the giveaway, any app user who shows their app at the counter at one of the premium partners featured on the app will pay $5 for any full-priced cheeseburger.
Burger Collective have also announced a massive competition, whereby any user who downloads the app and leaves a review of a burger during the week of National Cheeseburger Day, 18 -25 September will be entered into the draw to win a years’ supply of burgers from one of their premium partners! (Those hoping to cheeseburger-munch their way to a years’ free burgers should leave their review on the app before 5pm Thursday 24 September, with the winner announced at 9am on Friday 25 September on the app. If you’ve won a free cheeseburger with your download, you’re also still eligible to win the year’s worth of burgers, so long as you’ve left a review).
1st Place: 1 years supply of burgers from a Premium partner (as chosen by Burger Collective), to the value of $850
2nd Place: Exclusive Dinner at a Burger Collective partner for you and four mates, to the value of $250
3rd Place: 4 x cases of Jarritos Mexican Soda x Truff Hot Sauce Prize Pack
So – where’s the best pick on National Cheeseburger Day for your $5 burger?
“Burger Head in Penrith are hugely popular with the members on our app, with an overall score of 4.5 and 1, 367 reviews so far,” says Burger Collective’s Marketing Director Ross Kemp, “They also have a mobile burger truck that moves around the city. Over on the North Shore, WingMill in Neutral Bay goes well – their “American Smash Burger” is a hit with our members, as are the Burger Point stores in Marsden Park, Wentworth Point and Eastern Creek – people love the “Boss Burger” there.”
For those new to the Burger Collective app, the app allows for burger lovers to search within an area for the most popular burgers (according to the reviews!) and has a Instagram-feed style visual interface depicting burger images, short reviews from real burger lovers who have tried the product, and star ratings. Each review is 100% authentic – a real commentary or recommendation from a burger enthusiast whose been there and sunk their teeth into it, for the team! The more reviews you leave, you higher up the Burger Collective’s reviewer ladder you climb, and you stand to unlock extra value.
The team have released a new-and-improved version of the app last month (the app originally came out in 2016), with a suite of new changes, including a dual feed, a burger store location map, a leaderboard displaying top reviewers in your city and live leaderboards with top restaurants in each area, an ‘add new restaurants’ feature, a search by ingredients feature, and a restaurant wishlist (along with bug fixes, and overall performance and interface improvement). The team will continue to make monthly updates to the product to ensure it stays fresh and user’s feedback is being implemented, and a delivery function is currently in development, with plans for an October release.
