Brown Sugar is back at Marble Bar and it was THE biggest event known in the city, and the crowd were not disappointed.
Held at Sydney’s most established venue, this lower ground bar at Hilton Sydney Hotel is a haven for live music, great cocktails to fine wine and delectable bites from the bar.
I met Deni and the Brown Sugar band last year at The Arthouse Hotel on Pitt St and when I heard them live, man I knew this was going to be one that I follow closely and bring my mates over and over. Check out my previous review Putting Soul back into Sydney.
So I mentioned that I love live music, and who better than the fabulous Lady Lyric with her soulful yet powerhouse vocal and the velvet jazz tones of Miguel George. The life of the band; Michael Dolce on Guitar, Johnny Grguric on Bass, Deni Di Filippo on Drums and Jonathan ‘JC’ Corea on keys and saxophone. Lining up the band and crowd pleaser post-set is the wicked DJ TREY with great sets and style from Soul, R&B, Funk, Hip-Hop mixes and house.
These guys know how to raise the roof and make sure you never leave that dance floor. Talk about fans, at the re-launch party the line-up was massive. I wouldn’t expect nothing less and you’ll understand why. When I walked out with the band to take some group photos and fan shots, I couldn’t really hear much from the screaming coming from the line, applauding and wanting to meet the band and take selfies.
On the night, I was there to support the band, meet new friends, enjoy the music and take my turn on the dance floor. You can’t go wrong with an impressive band, great DJ and a night that promises plenty of adventures and surprises. It’s the people that liven the party.
So I’m asking you to step into the Marble Bar Sydney every Friday night and surrender to the music from Brown Sugar, the setting couldn’t get any better as you walk through the charms of the marble arches and stained glass doors.
