A casual, fully licensed eatery, Flave offers the best of East meets West, with convenient, mouth-watering, flavour-packed breakfasts, burgers, and bowls, served daily, with no reservations required. But Flave is not just a restaurant, it’s a food movement, centred around epic tasting food that just happens to be better for our health and better for our planet. And the surprise twist…. the entire menu is plant-based.

Husband and wife founders, Samantha and former Zambrero CEO Stuart Cook, were lifelong meat-eaters before a frightening health scare while travelling overseas changed their lives. Samantha contracted a severe bacterial infection and was airlifted to the hospital, with doctors ordering her to switch to a plant-based diet to aid her recovery. Stuart switched too in support, and they quickly recognised the benefits to their health and the environment. But they struggled to find nutritious, flavoursome, and convenient plant-based dining options when they returned to Sydney. Until they met Chef Scott Findlay.
Flave Executive Chef, and Bondi local, Findlay brings with him a wealth of experience alongside remarkable credentials. Scott trained under Gordon Ramsay, before honing his plant-based recipes over a decade working as a private chef to legendary Sir Paul McCartney (a pioneer of the Meatless Mondays Movement) as well as working for a multitude of celebrities including ‘flexitarians’ Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna and Elton John.
Using his extensive knowledge and expertise Scott has created an entirely plant-based and sustainable menu that does not forgo flavour.
Southern Fry – Spicy American Cauli Burger: Cauliflower steak, fried southern-style with creamy baconnaise, ranch dressing & Peri Peri hot sauce, jammed with salad and pickles in a lightly toasted sesame bun. If you’re craving some “chicken” this is your go-to burger. Psst, the cauliflower bites are just as epic too!
Epic Flave – Ultimate Cheeseburger: Grilled BUDS smashed pattie topped with a slice of melty cheese, BBQ smoked brisket, maple glazed streaky bacon, diced pickles, raw onion and roasted field mushroom. The crunchy southern fried onion rings, a drizzle of chipotle aioli and smokey BBQ sauce complete this anything-but-basic burger. Even the staunchest meat lover will be convinced!
Ballsy Bowl – Italian Not-Meatball Salad: Rich BUDS balls slow-cooked in Napoli sauce with creamy, cheesy eggplant parmigiana, balanced with fresh pesto. Tender sauteed broccolini & cavolo nero, peppery rocket and fresh spinach for zing. Finished with crunchy toasted hazelnuts and parmesan cheese. Nonna’s tick of approval!
So Su Me Bowl – Tokyo Tartare Sushi Bowl: Tangy and spicy Japanese tuna, baby spinach, quinoa and rice, carrot and cucumber ribbons pickled ginger, edamame and avocado wedges, all balanced with the umami-packed tang of sesame seaweed salad, Togarashi seasoning, Miso Ponzu dressing and wasabi aioli. A sheet of crispy tempura nori gives the finishing C-R-U-N-C-H!
Unscramble Me – Wake-up roll: Get ready to swap out the classic Aussie “egg and bacon roll” and switch to an even better wake-up roll. Creamy, buttery scramble topped with sweet, rich caramelized onion and chipotle mayo, sprinkled with fresh chives and sandwiched in a lightly toasted sesame-sprinkled bun.
Helluva Brownie – Caramelised Sweet Potato Chocolate: Roasted and caramelised sweet potato, a hint of vanilla, fibre-packed almonds for a nutty texture and premium organic cacao. Crispy outside, gooey inside brownie with chocolate-coconut ganache will give you a long-lasting blast of energy.
The design of the restaurant is bold and bright, with a sense of nostalgia. Reminiscent of a retro diner, there are vivid pops of neon red, polished concrete floors, vintage style banquet and booth seating, and curved countertops, walls, and façade. Shades of pale blue and white, warm concrete walls, floor to ceiling windows and accents of natural timber add a contemporary, modern touch.
