Whirlpool Cooking Class with Scott Gooding

Being able to cook is a god sent gift for some but for others (like myself) it’s a game of chance – is this worth sacrificing my taste buds or should we order in? So naturally, anything that could make cooking easier, I’m all for it.

Leading global appliance brand Whirlpool is, in fact, doing this with their innovative line of 6th sense technology. To showcase this, Whirlpool hosted a cooking class at The Marley Spoon Kitchen in Alexandria on Wednesday night. Raf and I were treated to an intimate and hands-on evening led by Whirlpool ambassador Scott Gooding.

Using Whirlpool technology, Scott shared his culinary expertise throughout the night as he walked us through how to make two delicious and surprisingly straightforward dishes.

The first dish was a healthy alternative to tacos using a lettuce leaf for athe base. We were each set up with our own chopping board and serrated knife, and invited to prepare our meal using the fresh produce and seasonings scattered across the bench.

Prior to the class itself, Scott used Whirlpool’s oven to prepare the chicken for the tacos. Scott was right when he said Whirlpool technology is “almost idiot-proof”. I was quite amazed that with over 30 preset food types, 6th sense technology doesn’t require preheating and pre-selects the cooking time for you. Sounds like something even I could do!

The second dish of the night was a Salmon Poke Bowl in which Scott used the Whirlpool induction cook clock stove to poach the salmon. Watching Scott work his magic, the stove only turned on when there was a pot in place, a very nifty safety feature. Leading the class with his light-hearted demeanor, it was easy to see why Whirlpool has chosen Scott as their first Australian brand ambassador. Scott said he got on board with Whirlpool because he shares the same ideals when it comes to working in the kitchen – making cooking accessible and fuss free, all whilst still creating real and wholesome food.
