Whether you’re coeliac, gluten intolerant or just interested in gluten free cooking and recipes, the 2017 Gluten Free Expo has everyone covered. The ultimate foodie event filled with food, fun and activities for the whole family. The weekend event runs from the 5-6th August at Rosehill Gardens.
I had the pleasure of chatting to Diane Coleman, the State Manager of Coeliac Association NSW/ACT about the event and the amazing impact it has on those who are coeliac or gluten intolerant. This is the thirteenth event, eleven of which Diane has been involved in organising. She remembered back to the huge success of the first event which took place in Chatswood Town Hall. This was a time when not much was known about coeliac disease and people were unsure how popular it would be, but the large turn-out was proof that this event was something that people wanted and needed. Diane believes the sense of community is crucial to the event and loves that attendees can walk in with the confidence that all food offerings are gluten free and free from cross-contamination.
The Expo isn’t just an opportunity to taste and take home the latest developments in gluten free food but it’s also a chance to brush up on your cooking skills! With cooking demonstrations led by expert dieticians and previous contestants from Masterchef, you’ll learn how to create a range of delicious, gluten-free meals that’ll have everyone talking. These demonstrations are great for showing how easy it is to create gluten free meals and its usually just as simple as swapping out one or two ingredients!
Not only will your tastebuds be stimulated but so will your mind. Enjoy talks and panels from leading dieticians and experts in the fields, covering topics from understanding supermarket labels to the nitty gritty links between genetics and coeliac disease. Diane thinks these discussions are so important, particularly for people who have recently been diagnosed with coeliac as it provides useful but understandable information about how to manage it stress-free.
With over 50 exhibitors showcasing everything from gluten free granola to specialty burgers and beers, prepare to have your tastebuds tantalised and delighted throughout the day. Between these exhibitors you have breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course dessert covered. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase all of the latest innovations in gluten free cooking and products. Diane mentioned they are always on the lookout for products which enhance the gluten free lifestyle.
And just when you think it can’t get any better…be one of the first 2500 to arrive at the event and you’ll receive a free goodie bag filled with delicious treats!
There’s no question that you’ll leave this event with a full stomach, bags of yummy food and bursting with new inspiration for the kitchen. Get your tickets here www.glutenfreeexpo.com.au/buytickets
